How Our Metabolism Is Like A Campfire
Have you ever been camping and find yourself just watching the fire burn?
Our metabolism, in many ways, is just like a fire.
If you let a fire continue to burn over time without adding wood, it will slow down, lose heat and eventually burn itself out.
If we go too long in between meals our metabolism slows down, and looses its ability to function.
What happens to a fire if you put too much wood on it? It usually smokes more than it burns, and it looses its ability to produce heat. Just like our metabolism, if we eat too much at one meal, we bog down our metabolism causing it to slow down.
For a really productive fire you learn to add just the right amount of wood in order to keep it consistent. Our bodies use food the same way. If we feed it small frequent amounts, consistently we raise its ability to burn calories.
